Tonight I listened to Mark Driscoll’s 3rd message in his current series on Ephesians. I would highly recommend anything by Mark Driscoll but beware that he is not a “tickle your ears” kind of teacher. He preaches the “whole” word of God. As I listened I was reminded of something that I have found to be very true in my own walk and felt compelled to share. Shortly after Jesus was baptized, he went into the wilderness and fasted for 40 days. During this time was when the famous temptations of Satan came. The enemy attacked at a time when Jesus was HUNGRY, ISOLATED, and TIRED. I have found this to be extremely true in my own life. We must always be aware when our flesh is weak. Our enemy is not unwise. His troops are well-trained and have been waging war for thousands of years. Be on guard!
“Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” 1Peter 5:8
I am reminded of the documentaries on the Discovery channel and the National Geographic channel that show the prides of lions hunting in Africa. How do they choose their prey? They seek the slow and smaller prey that is isolated from the pack. Then they seek to isolate them further and attack and devour! They are smart. They seek the prey whose flesh is weak and has isolated itself from the pack. Interesting!
